Mamie Van Striker - skid row enthusiast
"The trouble now-a-days, is there's too much trouble now-a-days."
Mamie Van Stricker
Mamie Van Striker, founder of the Free Z. Glee Club, was a woman obsessed with joy and good cheer. Using only a metal folding chair and a bull whip, Ms. Van Striker often entertained her flock for hours on end. "It don't matter if you was president of General Motors or a blind vagrant, Ms. Mamie always have a kind word and a warm cup of Bee Tea waitin' fer youse" chirps Cherry Woodhead, a local street player and weekend alley roller. Although her home-made Bee Tea caused rashes and paralysis for many patrons, Mamie Van Striker will mostly be remembered for her feelgood attitude.
