Pixie and Dixie with Mr. Jinx. What an inspiration these cartoons were to me. I remember getting scolded in grade school for imitating the voice stylings of Mr. Jinx. A big round of applause to Hanna-Barbera Studios and all the talented staff of Artists, Writers and Animators.

I just had to try Drawing and Driving. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, not because of the safety issues, but how badly the drawings turn out. I lettered the date & time at a stop light.

Sylvester the Cat was/is another great cartoon inspiration. I drew dozens of pictures of Sylvester, but never developed the tight/slick style that the pros at Warner Brothers Studio had down.

Popeye the Sailor. This mesmerizing cartoon was/is a great inspiration to me. The Fleischer Studio also cranked out Betty Boop, Koko the Clown, and Bimbo. A great read with tons of insight is The Fleischer Story by Leslie Cabarga.

The GREAT Walt Disney and the Great Staff of Artists, Writers and Animators at Disney Studios -

I couldn't get enough of this great cartoon character. Big Bad Wolf was a big cartoon inspiration for me. You gotta love a comic book where the father figure (Big Bad Wolf aka Zeke) was constantly trying to eat his son's (Li'l Bad Wolf) playmates (The Three Little Pigs).

Another early on Hero was Gene Autry. He had a horse named Champion, Gene played guitar and sang. He was great! I acquired this autographed post card in 1989.

My first Hero was, oddly enough, Arthur Godfrey. He had a horse named Goldie, Arthur played ukulele, sang and drank coffee. My grandmother sent Arthur Godfrey this photo of me watching his show.

Lunching on Fat Tuesday at The Bohemian Crystal.
The hostess was blond and tall. She wore calf high, black felt boots with gold zippers up the backs.
I'd intended to put 1/2 of my meal in a take-home container, but I didn't want to offend the Saints of Fat Tuesday so I ate the whole thing. Life is good!
